Morning Workshops:

ML at the Edge

This workshop demonstrates how to implement low-power machine learning at the edge leveraging the Avnet RASynBoard. The RASynBoard is architected to deliver low-power, battery operated ML in an embedded platform. We will cover the process and tools used to develop a custom ML model for an embedded target. Hands-on labs include collecting training data, training a ML model, testing the model, and finally deploying the model to the RASynBoard platform. Participants will keep the RASynBoard kit to further develop custom ML models.

Agenda:
• How to implement ML on an embedded platform

• Process
• Tools
• Target Hardware

• Hands-on Lab exercising pre-built ML models on the RASynBoard hardware
• Hands-on Lab creating your own ML model using the on-board 6-axis IMU sensor

Software install and pre-work required prior to workshop (links in confirmation email)

Attendees will receive:

 RASynBoard
microSD card
USB-C cable

A $99 dollar value!

Brian Willess
Technical Solutions Engineer - Avnet

Brian Willess is a Technical Solutions Engineer at Avnet working out of Southport NC. Brian’s focus is on IoT Device firmware, cloud connectivity and ML. Brian holds a BSE in Computer Systems Engineering from Arizona State University and has over 20 years of professional experience developing low level firmware, managing firmware teams and firmware projects.

Accelerate Embedded Vision AI System Development

Explore how developing advanced embedded Vision AI systems at the edge or endpoints can be simpler than ever before. In this workshop, you will hear directly from engineers on how to use the compact and cost-effective dual-core Arm® Cortex®-A55 RZ/V2L microprocessor-based Single Board Computer (SBC) tailored for embedded Vision and Vision AI applications. You will learn how this SBC can help to accelerate your system design and the available options to use this SBC directly in your product.

Agenda:

• Bring board up and run pre-built demos

• Use easy browser interface to exercise various AI models

• Learn how to re-image hardware

System Requirements:

• Laptops with two USB ports

• Software install required prior to workshop (Python 3.8 or TeraTerm)

Attendees will receive:

RZBoard
 USB webcam
 USB serial cable
 Power adapter

A $200 dollar value!

Afternoon Workshop:

BLE Connectivity Made Easy

This workshop introduces the RA Flexible Software Package (FSP) drivers and middleware designed for the DA14531 Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) device by building a complete working solution in less than 90 minutes. Participants will set up the project to read sensor data from an external HS3001 relative humidity and temperature sensor connected to an RA6M4 board. A custom Bluetooth LE profile will be generated and participants will use the Renesas Quick-Connect Sandbox App running on their phone or tablet to connect to the board, control the LED and read sensor data via the Bluetooth connection.

Agenda:

• Set up the DA14531 driver on Renesas RA6M4

• Generate custom Bluetooth LE profile using QE for BLE

• Establish smart device connection using Bluetooth LE connectivity

Software download required prior to workshop (link in confirmation email)

Attendees will receive:

RA6M4 EVK
 DA14531 BLE Pmod
HS3001 or ZMOD4410 sensor Pmod
 Renesas QC Sandbox BLE app

A $200 dollar value!

Mikael Hvid
Principal Field Applications Engineer – Renesas

Mikael is the Principal Connectivity FAE for Renesas in the Bay Area, supporting BLE, Wi-Fi, NFC, Cellular and RF products. Prior to joining Renesas, he was with Dialog Semiconductor for more than 8 years helping customers implement wireless communications into their systems He grew up within a 10-mile radius of both the Lego factory and the city were the Viking king, Harald Bluetooth, held court. He therefore had no other choice than becoming a wireless engineer. Mikael holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineer from the University of Southern Denmark.
