ON DEMAND WEBINAR: Optimizing EVM Measurements in 5G FR2 Phased Array Antenna Modules

With 5G FR2 mmWave spectrum opening to support increased capacity, radio designers must meet specifications with an acceptable margin over large instantaneous bandwidths. This webinar presents RF measurement techniques for optimal over-the-air wireless link performance using an integrated antenna-to-bits development system.

Webinar Details:

Avnet engineers are joined by test experts from Rohde & Schwarz to demonstrate OTA modulation analysis techniques using a benchtop compact antenna test range (CATR). The device-under-test combines the AMD Zynq™ RFSoC DFE, featuring multi-channel direct-RF data converters, MATLAB-based 5G NR signal generation, and beamforming through the Fujikura FutureAccess™ mmWave phased array antenna module.

In this Webinar you will learn:

  • Advanced techniques for OTA measurements with 5G FR2 mmWave phased array antenna modules.
  • Tradeoffs when creating far-field conditions for OTA measurements.
  • Techniques to identify and minimize EVM impairments of test setup and equipment.
  • Strategies for faster full characterization without compromising test coverage: EVM, ACLR, SEM and key distortion metrics.
  • Scripting and sequencing concepts to automate testing and evaluate results.

Fabrício Dourado

Senior Application Engineer, Rohde & Schwarz

Fabrício Dourado is a senior application engineer at the Rohde & Schwarz (R&S) Headquarters in Munich, Germany. He joined the company in 1996 and worked in various test and measurement product marketing and technical support roles for Europe, the Americas and Asia.

Fabrício primarily focused on Asia from 2001 to 2019, regularly meeting customers and system integrators, sharing our experiences, and involving them in the R&S process to further develop products and automated test systems. He started specializing in mobile radio and production line remote control testing. Later, component tests up to 500GHz, multi-port network analysis, and radio fr ont-ends (RFFE) test. Fabrício joined the R&S Test & Measurement Application Development in April 2020, focusing on 5G-NR, automotive radar, and over-the-air (OTA) testing. Before joining R&S, he worked at the Institute of Materials Research at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Cologne, automating the Hall facility for semiconductor thermoelectric characterization.

Fabrício holds a degree in electronics engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica in São José dos Campos, Brazil.
